Hailin' Dalyn

About 50 seconds into this video a four-minute interview begins with Dartmouth quarterback Dalyn Williams, Dartmouth's Northeast Credit Union Male Athlete of the Week. The junior from Texas talks about the run/pass decision, about finally having a healthy receiving corps, and about the challenge the Big Green faces this week at No. 4 New Hampshire.

Speaking of a healthy receiving corps, The Dartmouth writes about the successful return to action of Dartmouth wideout Ryan McManus, who opened the season with a big game in the win over Central Connecticut State. (LINK)
In his new UNH Insider column, Allen Lessels writes about the UNH-Dartmouth series. From the story (LINK):
"The series is what New England football should be," said UNH assistant coach Brian Barbato, who played against Dartmouth three times from 2000-02. "I think it's good for New England football and good for New Hampshire football and a rivalry that should be played."
The Sports Network takes a look at Top-25 games and not surprisingly picks UNH over Dartmouth and Villanova over Penn. (LINK) Other Ivy picks:
Harvard over Brown
Albany over Columbia
Bucknell over Cornell
Princeton over Davidson
Army over Yale
From the column, which notes Harvard and Princeton were the preseason favorites in the Ivy League:
Who will join the race could be sorted out early with Dartmouth hosting Penn on Oct. 4 and then traveling to Yale the next week.
The New Haven Register offers up background on why Army could play at the Yale Bowl, where a crowd of 40,000 is anticipated, by why Yale's games at Army were nixed. (LINK):
Originally, a three-game series was scheduled. Yale was supposed to play at Army in 2010 and 2012, and then at Yale this year to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Bowl. But because Army is a scholarship program and Yale is not, the Black Knights needed a waiver to remain Bowl eligible in the FBS. The NCAA did not award the waiver for the 2010 and 2012 games, so Army had to back out. This year’s game remained scheduled and Army was granted the waiver.
BGA Premium last night featured a look back at the 1990 Dartmouth-UNH game when the Big Green traveled to Durham to face the No. 3 Wildcats and came away with a 21-21 tie. Dartmouth had a 14-0 lead at halftime before seeing UNH claw back largely on the strength of a couple of big plays in special teams. Be sure to check in tonight for another look at Dartmouth-UNH as well as a practice report.
