Weekly Wrap

It is now official. Parity has come to the Ivy League. A 5-4 team has won at least share of the conference title.

Here's your weekly wrap with a few thoughts:

Penn 30, Harvard 21
Penn clinched a share of the Ivy League title by beating a Harvard team that seemed invincible over the first half of the season. Billy Ragone threw two touchdown passes and ran for another to hand the Crimson its second loss in the last four games. Penn got 190 yards on the ground against a vaunted run defense with Lyle Marsh running for 130 and Ragone for 95 before leaving with a severe ankle injury on the final play of the third quarter.

Princeton 29, Yale 7
Most of the game statistics were relatively even except for the final score as Dartmouth's Week 10 opponent snuck over the .500 mark. The Tigers got a huge lift when Trocon Davis returned an interception 100 yards with a minute to go in the first half to snap a tie. Yale played without leading rusher Tyler Varga, out with a knee contusion.

Columbia 34, Cornell 17
In a 17-7 hole as halftime neared, the Lions reeled off the next 27 points to bounce back nicely from a 69-0 loss to Harvard a week before. Marcorus Garrett ran for 187 yards for Columbia and Luke Hagy 124 for Cornell. The Big Red suffered six turnovers and quarterback Jeff Mathews was sacked six times before leaving with an injury.

Wagner 31, Holy Cross 30
A season of heartbreak and near misses continued for the Crusaders as the 7-3 Seahorses won on a touchdown pass with 18 seconds remaining. Holy Cross, which lost by one point to top-10 Lehigh on a missed field goal at the end a week ago, has dropped its last three games by 1, 1 and four points. The Crusaders also have losses to Dartmouth by three (on the last play of the game) and Brown by three. That's five losses by a combined 12 points.

Robert Morris 21, Sacred Heart 17
The Pioneers blew a 17-6 fourth quarter lead despite 113 rushing yards from Keshaudas Spence. Sacred Heart has lost all four gamessince beating Dartmouth.

Drake 45, Butler 20
Drake used a 28-point run to deny Butler a chance to claim the Pioneer League crown.
